The word came and dwelt among us

Today I wanted to ask you something, Rabbi, but you threw this one at me : "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us".John 1:14. This is a simple and powerful statement. In John 1-1 the Word is not actually named. It is however described as coincident with the Lord and Creation."The word was with  God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3. One must therefore presume a simultaneous dichotomy as well as unity of the Word with  the Creator. "Word was with God, and the Word was God."  And this Word became flesh and dwelt among mortals. Being confined to a mortal frame He had to choose a time and space for the incarnation.  Why should the Word come and dwell among us? Are we worthy of such close attention from God ? Close enough to send part of Himself (. Apparently we are. "He who has ears, let him hear" says Mat11:15. Revelation 2:7 goes further - "'He who has an ear...

Loss of Faith

That is right. Faith with a capital F. What is faith but unreasoning acceptance. Like axioms. Like God. Things beyond logic, beyond question. Because once questioned they lose their mask of infallibility. And who wants a God full of frailties and contradictions. Considered without passion, what is God but a bundle of contradictions and incompatibilities. Why ? Because (s)he is God, beyond mortal comprehension. How convenient ! Because then you can say anything. Just make it sound good. Like God is Love. Whicb of course means nothing, but sounds like it means something. And it sounds good even if it means nothing. So Mother, you showed me Immanuel (Mathew 1:21- Isiah 7:14 ) and led me to Bethlehem (Mathew 2:6 - Micah 5:2) and then let me down with a bang. Mother, you look so sad these days. You seem to be in agony over something. The floodgates which opened crispily were provincially sealed tight again as ordained. I understand your plight. You are nothing but a vessel. A c...

Living for the Lord

"For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself."(Romans 14:7) Paul follows this up with its natural corollary;"Therefore whether we live or die we are the Lord's".(Rom 14:8). A person is either alive or dead. Hence the corollary. If one lives not to himself, then life suddenly becomes very complex. For the needs of a person living for himself are simple. But living for the Lord ! Here again, Mother, I need you to guide me. I have confessed to you so many times that I have no clue about the Lord. You are part of my being. Call me vain if you will, but I feel your son is not beyond my understanding either. But the Lord ! Immculate Mother, you bore the son of the Totality. You nursed him, brought him up, saw him crucified, heard the cry of utter despair-"Eli Eli..."(Mat 27:46). Were you living for the Lord ? I do not doubt that you were. But, Mother of my dreams, times are different now. In the world of today how would you have li...
